
Founded
by Dr. Vikram Sarabhai, the father of the Space programme,
AMA has grown as an Institution of national repute.
AMA commands the highest respect and recognition from
all quarters – be they business, profession, industry,
government or academic institutions not only in Ahmedabad
and Gujarat, but all over India. From a handful of members
in 1956, AMA has now grown into a family of nearly
400 institutional members and over 2000 individual members.
They come together on this forum, for the exchange of
ideas, information and experience, that enriches and
enhances their managerial skills and competence. AMA
has been receiving the Best Management Association Award
instituted by the All India Management Association since
its very inception in 1992 (except for two years when
AMA decided not to participate).

With several multifaceted activities, namely lecture
meetings, training programmes, visits, library and publications,
AMA has been disseminating vital information and updating
its members and other public about the development in
management thoughts and practices. Through its continuing
education programmes, AMA provides an opportunity to
study management, for those who could not undergo a
formal management education.
It was in 1996-97, nearly 10 years ago, when AMA fulfilled
its ambitious “Vision for a New Mission”,
setting up its World Class Infrastructure with State
of the Art Facilities in the form of the present AMA
Complex with 2000 sq. metres of diverse facilities.
It was indeed a matter of pride that the present AMA
Complex also won the prestigious World Architecture
Award as the “Best Educational Building Complex”
in 2001.

AMA’s Dream came true with the magnanimous
support of nearly 100 Corporate Patrons, who extended
generous contributions ranging from Rs.1 lakh to Rs.41
lakhs.
Over the past 10 years AMA has grown taking rapid strides
and quantum leaps. We are now emboldened to go for further
expansion creating about 1250 sq. metres of additional
facilities. This will comprise of an Ultra Modern State
of the Art Auditorium and a High-tech Library-cum-Information
Centre. With this expansion the AMA Complex will occupy
15 Seminar Halls, a Computer Lab and a Convention Centre
with multi-media and video conferencing.

Taking into consideration the global view, AMA will
soon be concentrating all its activities with the larger
picture in mind. Distinguished speakers, not only from
India, but also from abroad, will be invited to enlighten
us about Global Business, its tools and techniques.
We are expanding and broadening our outlook, as per
the times, as this is essential for growth, along with
the infrastructure.
