SUMMARY
Africa is the least industrialised continent in the world but that status is about to change. dawn of the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA) marks a defining shift in the continent’s economic narrative—from a commodity exporter and consumer goods importer to a manufacturing-driven growth engine. As barriers among 55 member states are dismantled, Africa’s combined market of 1.4 billion people is moving toward regionalized value chains and self-sustaining industrial ecosystems. For Indian exporters, this transformation presents a historic window of opportunity, not only for selling finished products, but for supplying intermediate goods, technology, and expertise that will drive Africa’s industrial renaissance.
According to Ernst & Young’s recent report the continent’s GDP has tripled since 2000 and could maintain a 5% annual growth trajectory to 2030.

- AfCFTA will boost intra-African trade by over 50%,

- There are over 150 billion-dollar companies in Africa, and more than 500 with annual sales of USD 100 million
- More than 400 companies generate at least USD 1 billion in Africa-based revenues
- There are 720 million African mobile users, more than in Europe or North America
- Africa’s agricultural output could soon triple, from an estimated USD 280 billion today to around USD 800 billion by 2030.
