SUMMARY
India’s hardware and tools industry stands at a defining moment. From the small workshops of Jalandhar and Ludhiana to the modern industrial belts of Pune, Rajkot, and Coimbatore, Indian manufacturers have built a reputation for quality, resilience, and precision in metal craftsmanship. With a rapidly transforming global trade environment, Indian exporters now have unprecedented opportunities to expand into new markets for hand tools, power tools, fasteners, hinges, electrical fittings, locks, knobs, and other engineered hardware products.
The global building hardware and tools sector is experiencing robust growth, driven by rapid urbanization, infrastructure expansion, and technological innovation. The government is pushing for the export $25 billion worth of with a competitive and strong manufacturing ecosystem.
Global markets are actively seeking alternatives to China to diversify and de-risk their supply chains. To capitalize on these shifts, India must act swiftly before global supply chains establish a new equilibrium, solidifying alternative manufacturing hubs.
While the global trade market for tools stands at ~$100 billion in 2022, projected to reach $190 billion by 2035, India’s share remains a fraction, with exports of $600 million in hand tools and $425 million in power tools. China’s near – 50% market dominance underscores the scale of the challenge and opportunity for Gujarat manufacturers and exporters to make further inroads in this lucrative market.
This workshop will provide an overview of the Hardware & Tools market in the current global trade scenario.
