
What is POSH
The Prevention of Sexual Harassment (POSH) at Workplace Act of India mandates every organisation to define their sexual harassment policies, prevention systems, procedures and service rules for its employees.
IMPORTANCE OF POSH
Organization is committed to creating a safe work environment free from any form of sexual harassment and where all employees are treated with dignity and respect.
HOW IC COMMITTEE IS FORMED
Internal Committee shall consist of the following Members as appointed by the management of the Organization from time to time:
- a Presiding Officer who shall be a woman employed at a senior level at the Workplace from amongst the employees;
- not less than two Members from the amongst the employees preferably committed to the cause of women or who have experience in social work or have legal knowledge;
- one Member from amongst non-governmental organizations or associations committed to the cause of women or a person familiar with the issues relating to sexual harassment.
At least one-half of the total Members so nominated shall be women.
REQUIRMENT FOR FORMING IC COMMITTEE
As per the law, it is mandatory for every workplace to have an Internal Complaints Committee (ICC) that would a critical role in prevention, prohibition and redressal of sexual harassment at the workplace. The ICC has a responsibility to establish an effective internal complaints procedure
HOW POSH TRAINING CAN BE USEFUL
This POSH awareness training will throw light on the redressal mechanism one should take in case of any incidence with themselves or their colleagues. The training will foster peer relationships and equality among employees of the organizations, thus ensuring a quality workplace environment for all the employees.
