SUMMARY

Over the past decade (2015–2025), Indian exports saw robust growth—rising from USD 466 billion in 2013–14 to approximately USD 778 billion in 2023–24, marking a 67% increase. The share of exports in India’s GDP increased from 19.8% in 2015 to 21.2% in 2024, outpacing global export growth rates. To attain global competitiveness, Indian MSMEs and exporters must prioritize technology upgradation, investing in automation, digital platforms, and smart manufacturing tools that boost productivity and quality. Cultivate a culture of continuous learning by training staff in emerging skills, international best practices, and market intelligence. Monitor and adapt to changing regulatory and international standards, such as ISO certification, sustainability benchmarks, and data security regulations. Proactively seek partnerships for innovation and compliance support. Regularly participate in export forums and global value chains to understand evolving customer demands. By embracing agility, upskilling, and standards alignment, SMEs can strengthen their global footprint and unlock new markets.

The future success and growth depend on a continuous endeavour to develop new products in line with customers’ changing demands as well as ability to bring greater depth to the technological upgradation as well as compliance with regulatory and international standards regime.
