The primary objective of the India-New Zealand Free Trade Agreement (FTA) is to deepen bilateral economic cooperation by granting duty relaxation for Indian exports. While driving a USD $20 billion private sector investment commitment into India. Additionally, the deal establishes mobility pathways for skilled professionals and protects India’s sensitive agricultural sectors.
It involves Enhanced Market Access and Trade, giving a major boost to labor-intensive MSME sectors like
textiles, leather, gems, engineering goods, Ayurvedic medicine, pharma, spices, IT Services and many more. It also Pairs Agricultural Productivity Partnership to help integrate traditional farmers into global value chains.
