Program Overview

The Advanced Certificate Program in Japanese Business & Management Practices is designed to provide participants with a comprehensive understanding of the unique foundations, structures, and contemporary developments of Japanese management. Spanning ten weeks, the program blends historical perspectives with modern insights, enabling participants to explore how Japanese approaches to human resource management, decision-making, innovation, operations, corporate governance, and globalization have influenced global business practices.

Through lectures, case discussions, applied projects, and comparative analyses, participants will gain practical knowledge of concepts such as lifetime employment, kaizen, the Toyota Production System, consensus-based decision-making, and the dynamics of keiretsu and multinational expansion. The course also emphasizes current transformations in Japan, including Womenomics, digital innovation, and the rise of startups, while drawing parallels with Western and Asian models.

Delivered in a flexible format (on-campus and live virtual classes for outstation participants), the program is ideal for professionals and learners eager to apply Japanese management lessons to diverse industries and international contexts.

Learning Outcomes

By the end of this course, participants will be able to:

Pedagogy: The faculty members will adopt an interactive teaching approach, incorporating lectures, PowerPoint presentations, case studies, and participant-led presentations.

Mode of Delivery: (On-Campus and Live Virtual Classes for Outstation Participants). This specially curated program is delivered through classroom-based learning, and a minimum of 75% attendance is mandatory to be eligible for the certificate. Online access is provided only to outstation participants.

Certification: Upon successful completion of the program, participants will receive a certification from AMA.

Library Facility

The AMA Library offers an extensive collection of over 18,500 plus books, 95 journals and magazines and nearly 11,000 Newspaper clippings on various management-related subjects. AMA subscribes to 14 newspapers and maintains newspaper clippings on 115 subjects. A special corner of the Library is dedicated to International Business, which includes trade directories, databases, books and articles. Reference books, directories, and e-magazines are also offered to the users and members. The Knowledge Resource Centre at the Library provides updated industry data, economic indicators, foreign trade updates and other such information to Diploma students, researchers and faculty members. The Library is also well-equipped with computer systems comprising of updated software and provides global connectivity through internet facilities. Participants may access the library free of cost. However, those wishing to borrow books must pay a refundable caution deposit of ₹1,000/-. Upon receipt of the deposit, a Library Card will be issued, allowing participants to borrow two books for up to one month.
